Van Horn Woods East Playground (17200 West Frontage Rd, Plainfield, IL)
JACL Chicago is honored to observe Wadee Day, a day of remembrance and action honoring the life of Wadee AlFayoumi, a 6-year-old Palestinian American Muslim boy whose murder, charged as a hate crime, highlighted the dangerous consequences of dehumanizing rhetoric. This day was formally established through the passage of the Wadee Resolution in the Illinois legislature in the spring of 2025.
Wadee Day aligns with the UN’s International Day of Peace for Children, honoring all children’s right to live in safety, peace, and dignity—especially those, like Palestinian children, who are too often denied that right. Join us to honor Wadee’s life, stand against hate and dehumanization, and promote peace, dignity, and justice for every child. Read more about Wadee Day from the Muslim Civic Coalition at this link.
