Day of Remembrance 2026: Reckoning with Redress @ Chicago History Museum
Chicago’s Day of Remembrance 2026—“Reckoning with Redress”—took place on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Chicago History Museum. We were honored to sponsor this event with historical Japanese American organizations throughout Chicago: Chicago Japanese American Council, Chicago Japanese American Historical Society, Japanese Mutual Aid Society of Chicago, and Japanese American Service Committee, as well as Full Spectrum Features.
The program featured Full Spectrum Features’ latest short docudrama film, Enough, and a panel discussion with licensed therapist Dr. Britt Dantley, JACL Chicago program director Rebecca Ozaki, attorney and anti-ICE activist Scott Sakiyama, Redress activist Mary Samson, and producer, director, and actor Brian Tee.
Rooted in the decades-long history of the Japanese American Redress Movement, the program asks how communities can pursue long-term repair while meeting the urgency of the present moment: What practices of storytelling, accountability, and care help interrupt patterns of state violence and removal, and how do we speak with immediacy without losing sight of the slow work of healing across generations?
