Bridging the Japanese American & Latinx communities

March 11, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

JACL Chicago & Casa Calle 20 present Bridge—Bridging the Japanese American & Latinx communities. A storytelling & music event from the JA community for the community in Pilsen.

The goal is to connect and share personal histories with the Latinx community in an informal, social session. Members of the JA community will share their experiences through storytelling and music.

Marginalized communities in this country are rarely given a space to exchange experiences. Much of our histories are intentionally suppressed or erased, but our stories continue traditionally through oral retelling.

We are in control of our own narratives. Join us as we bridge these two beautiful and important communities and hope to encourage lasting communication beyond this event.

The Brown University-based The No-No Boy Project will also perform as a way of introducing the JA experience through music.
